Make a Fleece Dog Chew Toy

A while back, I was shown how to make a fleece dog chew toy by a dog owner friend of mine.   It's an incredibly rewarding and creative way to express yourself, and to provide a valuable tool for your dog, and divert his or her attentions from the finer things in your property.  I always had problems with my dog, Lester, and the butt of all his toothy frustrations were the shoes, table legs and soft furnishings of my home.  I soon decided that I had to do something to improve our relationship as a whole, and to give him something to relieve his obvious boredom, and get him through a difficult time.

Fleece dog chew toys are incredibly easy to make.  I was able to get a number of lengths of fleece material from a local upholsterer, and was shown how to tie them in various different ways, to achieve a variety of shapes and sizes.  The materials are inexpensive, and you can achieve stronger and more resistant designs, for larger dogs, by tying more and more strands together into tighter knots.  Color also plays an important role, and it pays to be as flamboyant as possible.  The more garish, the better, as your dog will not be able to resist the temptation to attack!  Take inspiration from books and the things around you.  I flicked through some old National geographic journals, and modelled some toys on the African animals therein.  Get creative and before you know it, you'll have an enjoyable new hobby, and an endless stream of toys for your best friend.
