Top Six Poetry Sites to Submit Your Poems

Here is my top six poetry list of websites to post your poems. To prevent any bias I have omitted to include my own poetry websites. All of these sites you provide the general online poet a home to submit and share their work.

1. poemhunter.com

Poemhunter has plenty going for it. A very large community base, free to join and a decent poet ranking system. The downside is the intrusive advertising. Well worth a visit though.

2. facebook.com

Not a specialist poetry site and the fact it's in the list might surprise you. However it contains a poetry community to cater for every poets interest. It's also user led so you can create your own community. As for protecting the copyright of poets - I'd be as confused as the next person on this one.

3. thepoetsanctuary.net

Has a nice forum layout although the navigation is slightly confusing and 40,000+ members so it's one of the biggest dedicated communities. Also has a chat function. Has a few ads but they are not intrusive in anyway. A good site.

4. allpoetry.com

I want to say something positive about every site. For me the main positive on allpoetry is the community. Had a scroll through member comments and they seemed constructive and useful. The community is 440,000+ plus, although weekly visits takes it down to 13,542. Still a very good sized community. Just a note that this community has higher levels of paid for membership.

5. poem.org

A forum based community with a good categorizing of poetry so you can post as either a novice, medium or advanced. A total membership of 1500+ with a mild level of activity. Navigation felt a bit awkward between the forum section and the main site. Community comments felt fair and constructive. Ads were at times annoying especially during the registration phase.

6. writing.com

Not a specialist poetry community as it also includes writing but a very large community with 660,000+ members. Good information on copyright. Probably asked for a bit to much information during registration. Has free membership with paid upgrade options. Displays a lot of ads but they do not appear to be intrusive. The kind of website with plenty to do you could get lost in the site for weeks having unlimited fun.
