8 Most Popular Celtic Design Tattoos

Searching for top-rated Celtic design tattoos? Here's a list of the eight most popular Celtic tattoo designs for you to peruse and see if you can find one that best matches your style and personality.

Knots.

This is probably the most common style of Celtic tattoo. The entwined patterns of this design represent the continuous cycle of life and death-no beginning and no end. Sometimes the knot works form certain geometric shapes, such as triangles and circles. When these two shapes combine, it usually makes a trinity knot that symbolizes the mind, body and spirit-or alternately, the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

Cross Designs

This pattern type is based on the Latin cross and usually has a ring at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical lines. The Celtic cross is a symbol of the union of earth and the heavens-the vertical bar represents the spiritual world, the horizontal bar stands for the earth, while the ring is a symbol for the Creator's eternal love for mankind. Inside the cross, you can also find continuous spiral patterns that symbolize the never-ending existence of love and spirit. The Celtic cross is a great representation of the Celts' faith and love for their Creator.

Tree of Life

The Celtic tree of life is similar to the cross in the sense that they both build a connection between heaven and earth. A common image of this style is one where the tree's roots are grasping the earth and its branches are reaching out to the sky. The trunk of the tree of life serves as the meeting point of these two worlds.

Hearts

The Celtic heart is often referred to as the love knot tattoo. It basically represents the unity of souls, and its design starts out with a line that eventually turns into a heart-shaped knot. If you're looking for a more romantic pattern, then Celtic design tattoos that are based on heart patterns are the ones for you.

Celtic Claddagh

Another style that also includes a heart in its design is that of a Celtic Claddagh. The heart is usually depicted wearing a crown and being held by two hands. Naturally, the heart represents love; the hands typify friendship, while the crown stands for loyalty.

Spiral Designs

As mentioned before, spirals make up the continuous lines that form into more complicated patterns. They generally symbolize the immortality of love. If you prefer a simpler tattoo but with a special meaning, go with Celtic design tattoos with spiral patterns.

Maze Designs

Also known as key and step patterns, the maze is the representation of one's journey throughout the joys and challenges of life. The open and blocked paths stand for the opportunities and obstacles that are normally encountered in one's lifetime.

Animal Celtic Design Tattoos

The Celts have always believed that animals have a great role and participation in the harmony of nature. Below are some examples of animal Celtic patterns and their respective meanings:

• Bull - strength
• Butterfly - transformation and rebirth
• Crow - death
Dog - loyalty and luck
• Dragon - magic and power
• Horse - beauty, rejuvenation, speed and vitality
• Lion - nobility and strength
• Peacock - purity
• Snake - fertility, healing and rebirth

Hopefully after reading the top seven Celtic design tattoos, you should be able to find the most suitable style that fits your image. Just be sure to give it a lot of thought before going to a tattoo shop.

Anger is Like an IED - It Can Explode Unless You Successfully Defuse It

Anger is always lurking, ready to spring into action. Everyone has to deal with it but everyone is not necessarily successful in doing so. Too often anger controls you rather than you controlling it. Like an exploded IED, it leaves behind shrapnel of churning negative emotion, frustration, and physical tension.

Anger is a natural, spontaneous, unavoidable, sometimes justified response that may open or close communication channels. You need to have an appropriate way to deal with it or the shrapnel can leave you and others bleeding.

Allen's new law partner, Carl, frequently has difficulty coping with his anger. It makes everyone in the office miserable. When Carl came into the office Saturday, he was already tightly-coiled, ready to explode. He raved, "A car cut in front of me on the freeway. That s.o.b. nearly killed me. Boy, I wish I had had a gun. I'd have shown him!"

Feeling intimidated and overwhelmed by this onslaught, Allen felt his stomach tighten sickeningly. He experienced this knot every time Carl started to rant. As much as he hated it, Allen did not know what to do. "Have a cup of coffee and a scone."

Carl continued, "My whole morning has been like this. When I took out the garbage, the bag broke. Of course, the dog wanted to go for a walk. The gas pump didn't give me a receipt. And I haven't prepared for the depositions on Monday. Life really craps on me!"

Allen looked at the floor and clenched his fists in his pants' pockets. He walked over to his desk to get a client's file and sighed, "I can't work like this."

Carl over-expresses his anger while Allen under-expresses his. Both have anger coping and communication issues that need to be acknowledged and managed. They need to learn how to appropriately express their negative emotions.

What can Carl do? When he feels anger start, he can put up his hand and say "STOP!" then remove himself either physically or psychologically from the situation. Closing his eyes and breathing from his diaphragm, he can take a few minutes to let the tension drain so he can think. He can then ask himself

- What is prompting this feeling?
- Is my acting this way changing anything that has already happened for the better?
- How can I express my anger constructively to make it work for me, not against me?

Allen can do the same behaviors as Carl and then ask himself

- How do I feel about what is going on?
- How can I constructively, calmly, and respectfully express my feelings?
- What would I like done to reduce his and my anger?
- What is the worst thing that can happen if I express my feelings about his anger?

Both Carl and Allen need to set up an anger-management goal to achieve. They need to create concrete and specific affirmations to use at the first sign of anger. Stopping, thinking, and reframing the emotion and situation can reinforce their positively coping with anger.

Engagement Ring Shopping - Finding Unusual and Unique Rings

When you're shopping for a certain item, you're always looking for something that's unique and unusual. Maybe it's really a natural human behavior to look for things that are extraordinary and not be contented to common ones. Like when you're shopping for an engagement ring, you'll really make an effort just to find a special one to give to your beloved spouse to be.

For that groom to be who are looking for different unusual engagement rings, there are many options in finding a unique one. It is really a very stressful task but it's really worth your effort to find the one ring that you're looking for. Just thinking your bride to be and the smile on her face, you'll surely be inspired to search for the perfect ring that she'll certainly love to have.

When you say engagement ring, the first thing that would pop into your mind is a solitaire diamond ring. To make your engagement ring different, why not change the stone or the setting? There are many beautiful ring styles that can be used to modify or to make your engagement ring a unique one.

A tension ring setting will give your ring an amazing appearance if you don't want the conventional prong setting; this kind of setting can also give your stone the same security like that of prong. Instead of using diamond as your center stone, you can use lovely and colorful gems like ruby, sapphire, emerald, topaz, and aquamarine just to name a few.

These gemstones are available in different cuts and shapes which are equally beautiful as diamond. Also, each stone have its own meanings and brilliance that made them exceptional.

You can also use all-metal rings. These kinds of rings are made up of precious metals with the absence of stone/stones. You can find these rings in different patterns and designs. One of the most famous patterns is the Celtic knot; also, each type of pattern has its own meaning and symbolism.

A two tone engagement ring is extraordinarily beautiful. Most common type of metals used as a combination is yellow gold and white gold. It can be an all-metal ring or you can place a diamond or any other precious stone you prefer as the center stone.

Another option if you want an unusual type of engagement ring is to purchase an antique engagement ring. Getting a genuine antique ring will assure you that what you have is a unique ring. You can get this in an auction or it can be given to you as a family heirloom.

As part of the wedding planning, you might as well include wedding ring shopping alongside with your engagement ring so you can be sure that they will certainly complement each other when worn side by side.

How To Significantly Increase Your Dogs Chances Of Coming Back When You Call

Have you ever heard the term "Catch 22?"

The phrase became popular after the novel by that name was written by Joseph Heller in 1961.

Wikipedia defines the phrase as: "Catch-22" is common idiomatic usage meaning "a no-win situation" or "a double bind."

Here are some example from the book:

"The Texan turned out to be good-natured, generous and likable. In three days no one could stand him "The case against Clevinger was open and shut. The only thing missing was something to charge him with

What does all of this have to do with significantly increasing your dog's chances of coming back when you call? Because one of the secrets to getting your dog to come back to you is like a Catch 22 situation, or if Joseph Heller were to write it, it would probably sound like this:

"The secret to getting your dog to come back to you when he is off-leash is to let him spend some time off-leash

You see, the big problem with dogs not coming back to their owners is not that they don't understand the command, not that they don't like you, not even that there is something else distracting your dog.

The big problem with your dog not coming back to you is...

YOUR DOG'S LACK OF FREEDOM.

If you look at the way many dogs live you'll see that most of them live under some type of confinement. They spend long periods of time in a house, in a fenced in yard, in a crate, in a car, on a leash etc.

The last thing your dog is thinking about when he gets a little taste of freedom is coming back to you or me.

I once worked with a German Short Haired Pointer that had been confined to the house and tied up for seven long years. For whatever reason, the owner after seven years decided he wanted to train his dog.

He showed up for a training session and thought that the area we were in was fenced and let his dog off-leash. Within seconds his dog was out of sight. He became very angry with his dog as we chased after him.

After we caught his dog (which was not easy) I tried explaining to him that what his dog did was natural. That after seven years of confinement I expected his dog to take off.

I added that in order for his dog to ever get good at coming back to him, his dog would have to develop a sense of freedom. He gave me a very puzzled look and asked, "How the heck do I let my dog develop a sense of freedom?"

There are a couple of ways to do this. One of the best ways is to get a 30 to 40 foot long line. Attach it to your dog's collar and go to a big open field. With the long leash attached to your dog, let your dog just be a dog.

Let your dog sniff, play, run around and do dog stuff. Stay close to the long line, this way you can step on the line if your dog starts to get too far away. Then when you call your dog, you can use the long line to get your dog to come to you.

I also recommend tying some knots in the long line. This way if your dog starts to run and you step on the long line the knot will help slow down your dog.

You can also go to a fenced in ball park or tennis court. The more you allow your dog to just be a dog and run around, the easier it will be for your dog to come back to you.

If you follow this simple step you will significantly increase your dog's chances of coming back when you call.

Go ahead and try it out.

A Short Guide to Buying Celtic Jewelry

Does your taste run into designs and patterns from the past? Love the resonance of history in your jewelry? Then, Gothic and Celtic jewelry is definitely worth buying.

Celtic jewelry may have come back into fashion now but there is nothing new about them. Items like these have been gracing women's jewelry boxes for decades. But, these days, there has been a re-awakening; more and more women are collecting these timeless designs. For the fashion conscious, these items are like a breath of fresh air. So, if you are tired of boring old designs, Celtic jewelry can help you add an interesting angle to your looks.

Celtic jewelry designs are modeled on the designs and patterns used by the Celts, people who once predominated parts of mid and Western Europe. These days, people of Celtic origin are found in Ireland and Scotland. The Celts were specialists in intricate, lovely designs. They had exquisite craftsmanship and this was expressed in the beautiful jewelry that they crafted in bronze, gold and silver. Many of their designs are a fitting tribute to nature and religious faiths. Knots and crosses are examples.

Some of the most popular designs in Celtic jewelery include knots, cross and rings. The cross, for the Celts, is a symbol of eternity and faith. The four points on the cross indicate the four elements - air, water, fire and earth. To some, the four points also indicate the unity of soul, heart, body and mind. The knot, on the other hand, is meant to ward off evil and protect the wearer from the evil elements in nature. No wonder these designs evoke feelings that are hard to explain. Celtic rings have been traditionally used as wedding bands as these symbolize eternal love and total faith.

Before buying Celtic jewelery, it is important to make a decision about the material. While platinum and gold are obvious choices, silver is not only elegant and sophisticated but highly affordable too. Many designs and styles are available in silver Celtic jewelry. The contrast gained by combining sterling silver with pure black leather is stunning and magnificent.

In the past, buying Celtic jewelry was expensive and time consuming. This is because many stores did not have an eclectic collection. These days, fortunately, a wide variety of Celtic jewelry is available from online stores. By shopping for Celtic jewelry online, it is possible to buy the design and material of your choice.

The best way to buy Celtic jewelry is to shop from a reputed online seller. That way, you have access to a large number of styles. You also need not worry about the quality of workmanship or material used.

Replacing Older Dog Toys

Your dog does some serious damage to his or her toys over the course of the time that they have them. Dog and cat toys aren't cheap and we try to make them last as long as we can in order to assure that we don't have to buy new ones.

Realistically, that's not the best idea probably. Toys do wear out and we do need to replace them. Once our pets have chewed through the toys and they've begun to show signs of wear and tear, it's quite likely time to toss them out and get something newer and more hardy.

Your dog may not chew through his or her toys but in many cases they do. Dogs love to chew and many may actually chew through their toys and you will find small pieces of a favorite toy lying around the house. You may say, that the dog will spit out the pieces and not swallow them. Make no mistake at all, they will swallow them. We once had a chocolate Labrador Retriever who ate his pull rope. Not a small piece of it, but the entire rope, lock, stock, and semi mangled knot.

Fortunately he did regurgitate it but it taught us a fairly valuable lesson. Once the knot starts to wear and the end of the toy is showing signs of wear and tear, its' time to replace it. Keeping older toys, even if they are your dogs favorite simply isn't common sense. If you can, and you do find a toy that your dog particularly loves, buy two of them. Keeping one in reserve is a good idea in case the store no longer has it when your own wears out.

If you have the options to purchase them, for a larger dog, be sure that you get a larger and much more sturdy toy.

Toys like a Kong are hardy and easy to fill, so the dogs tend to like them better and in reality they will last much much longer than the average dog toy. We've only ever had one Kong toy chewed beyond recognition. They are far more hardy than your run of the mill dog toy and you'll find that they tend to please the dogs immensely. You can cure boredom in a hurry simply by adding kibble to the inside of the Kong and permitting the dog to try to get it out, which they eventually do.

Replace your toys as they wear out. Dog and puppy toys are like toys for your child. If it had broken edges or sharp pieces you'd toss it out to prevent an injury and doing the same thing for your dog is just good sense. Your dog can choke, can swallow, or can be hurt with a toy that is not in good shape. Everyone in these economic times believes in making do with what we have, but it's not worth an injury in order to save a few dollars.

A raised terrace walk separates the Gardens from the Park, which features 1,800 acres of wooded parkland rich in plant, animal, and bird life, so there is much to explore. There is also an adventure playground onsite, along with a woodland trim trail and family cycle route.

Christchurch Park in Ipswich is a 70-acre area of rolling lawns, wooded areas, and delicately created arboreta featuring a stunning and varied collection of trees. Christchurch was the first public park in the town, opening in 1895, and surrounds Christchurch Mansion on the ruins of the old priory. The Mansion is now the site of an historical museum, art gallery and tea room.

Christchurch Park is home to in excess of 100 different bird varieties and many squirrels inhabit the arboreta. Facilities within the park include tennis courts, a croquet lawn, a bowling green, children's play area, public toilets, kiosks and shelters. The park is open from 7.30am until dusk Monday to Saturday and from 9am until dusk on Sundays.

The Grade 1 Listed gardens, set within a 400 year-old ancient red deer park, surround the spectacular moated Tudor Hall which has been owned an occupied by the Tollemache family for the past 500 years. The rich traditional gardens are complimented by a wonderful balance of nature and the modern accents.

Visitors will be spoilt for choice when deciding on where to begin their day wandering around these peaceful gardens. You will not want to miss The Knot Garden. This is a magnificent sight, whether viewed up close or from the windows of the Hall. It features two knot patterns planted in box, with each pattern being divided into four squares. Two of the squares depict the Tollemache fret, and contain plants introduced into Britain before 1750.

The Rose Garden is of breath-taking beauty, and features many rare as well as traditional breeds of roses, such as 'Mundi', 'The Fairy', catmints and forget-me-nots. This dense planting in a restricted colour range is very effective. Crossing over the moat you will find the Wild Flower Garden and Orchard, flourishing with primroses, cowslips, and ox-eye daisies to name but a few. Here also is the tennis court, which is designed to be as unobtrusive as possible. After the formality of the previous gardens it is refreshing to find an area of natural wildness on the edge of the Tudor deer park.

Dog Grooming - Stop Paying For Expensive Dog Grooming Services

Stop paying for expensive Dog Grooming services when you can buy your own equipment for a one off payment and groom your dog yourself. Dog grooming is easy to learn and will not only help you bond with your dog but will give you sense of achievement and satisfaction as you look at your groomed dog and then look at the money you've saved.

Follow these 7 steps to a professional dog grooming:

1. Brush your dog before washing to loosen any dirt. This will make it easier to wash out.

2. Use warm water and a good non irritating shampoo to wash your dog. The warm water will make the experience more enjoyable for your dog and ensure they are not scared or hesitant next time you want to partake in dog grooming.

3. Gently clean eyes and ears with a clean, damp cloth. Do not poke too far into your dogs ears as they are sensitive- same goes for the eyes. Remove visible dirt and grime.

4. Trim your dogs nails using specialty dog clippers. Most dog clippers will come with instructions so follow those closely to ensure your dog is not hurt.

5. Dry your dog with a towel. If you dogs coat is long or think they may benefit from a blow dry. They may even enjoy the extra warmth and attention.

6. No dog grooming session is complete without the final brush. Not only will this beautify your pooch but they will enjoy the attention.

7. Always reward your dog for good behaviour. Give your dog a treat at the end of their dog grooming session as this will teach them that if they behave while being groomed they will get a treat. If you are in the process of training your dog then they will know that a treat is good, and no treat is bad.

It's that simple. So save your money, bond with your pet and prove to yourself that you can do it. There are a lots of superior range of brushes, combs and clippers are available and some of these include:

Comfortable Maternity Clothing Has To Include Maternity Dresses

Dresses really are the ultimate in comfortable pregnancy clothing. They expand, breathe, flow and gently caress the body rather than cling, pinch and squeeze. They are a great way to stay cool in the heat of the dog days of summer. With a few summer maternity dresses you will be sure to beat the heat!

Maternity dresses did not follow a wearers body shape until the Middle ages. When western European dresses began to have seams, affluent pregnant women opened the seams to allow for growth. Dresses are also popular for the same reasons. This type of apparel gives you a little extra room for both growth and comfort. Dresses are most comfortable especially toward the third trimester because having all those fitted layers stretched across a tight, big belly is uncomfortable and hot in the summer.

Maternity dresses can be made from various materials like cotton, silk and polyester which are available in a variety of colors and designs. Some maternity dresses are so big, and while we are all very, very grateful for the ones generous friends lend us, I think we would rather wear dresses when we really can't fit into our favored maternity jeans anymore. Also, it's rather too hot in summer to be going around wearing clothing not suitable to maternity conditions; we know how hot we feel while carrying a child in our tummies!

Summer is packed full of long hot days and with your body temperature rising and increasing pregnancy weight gain, you will want to cool off in something easy to wear and very comfortable. In terms of easy to fit and timelessly stylish, there is nothing better than your basic wrap maternity dress. Summer Maternity dresses made from lightweight fabric are ideal for this time of year. A cotton sleeveless dress is ideal for any woman who is eagerly awaiting the arrival of her baby.

Maternity dresses are frequently designed in layers and are expandable and contractible without too much hassle. If you think you'll want your maternity clothes burned immediately afterward (I packed mine away the first instant I could zip my largest pair of shorts!) try finding a dress a size up from your pre-pregnant size, maybe with a jacket, maybe something you can cinch up or leave loose, so there's some "play" in the garment.

Hopefully you have found this article about maternity dresses and the useful part they play in the comfort of pregnant women useful. I look forward to enlightening you with much tips tricks and bits at our website.

My Apologies To All Pregnant Women

My son's birthday is coming up in a month or so. If you have a kid, there is a propensity to fondly recall the whole birthing experience as the special day draws near each year. When they hit milestones--my son is turning twenty one--the thoughts are even more profound. I suppose at this point I could go on and on about his birth; the stirrup being shot across the room; my mistaking it for my son; the three nurses wrestling mom's flailing leg back into its place as if they were grappling a crocodile into a sack; my son peeing like a loose garden hose over the delivery room doctor and staff. There's more but hey, we all have our self-important stories that do little more than engross those involved and bore all others to tears.

However, in my case, it is not the birth I remember most. It might be the fondest memory but not the 'mostest'. What I recollect the most is that I was fortunate enough to even be alive to take an active part in the whole birth ordeal. You see, there was ample reason for me to be dead. No, not from some kind of life threatening disease or terrible car accident. I was lucky to be alive because I wasn't murdered a few weeks before the blessed day.

Have you ever said something kind of nasty about someone behind his or her back only to discover he or she is standing right behind your back? You know that feeling? How you kind of want to crawl away after that initial knot of dread subsides from the pit of your stomach. Well, I committed such an indiscretion except only a hundred times worse. I did something so wrong that my heart still palpitates like a Buddy Rich drum solo every time I replay a second of it in my head. As a matter of fact, it's happening right now as I type.

The atrocity occurred about four weeks before the delivery, which was several weeks earlier than expected. So let's set the clock at seven and half months pregnant. It was a pleasantly warm early April afternoon. Birds were chirping. Flowers were springing. Children were giggling as they skipped to and fro. All was as nicey nice as could be. With joy in the air and anticipation bursting, we decided to go to the mall to do a little diversionary shopping. Eventually, we meandered our way to the earrings glass case at Bloomingdales.

It all happened quite unexpectedly and quite quickly.

I was distracted a moment while she engaged the salesperson in a conversation about a particular set of gold hoop earrings under the case. I remember picking up on an ominous silence to the recognizable cadence of their background conversation; similar to elevator music suddenly stopping. When I turned my attention back to her, she was bent over the jewelry case, her head to the side pressed against the glass, eyes dull, glasses crooked. She formed a perfect L if you discount the bulging baby. Her breath gently pulsed a silhouette of life against the cool glass. The salesperson was crouching down to make contact with her.

At that instant, the stars and planets of male intellect were all lined up. It was time for me to execute the perfect 'jackass of the century' maneuver.

I looked down at her. Assured by her visible breath she was alive, I performed a reflex visual sweep of the growing number of onlookers. Having confirmed she was drawing attention, I returned my concentration back to her. With an indignant tone in my voice, bordering on a Rodney Dangerfield punch-line delivery, I callously spoke a bunch of words that would forever be regretted.

"Honey? What are ya doin'?" Pregnant pause, so to speak. "You're embarrassing me."

Oh yeah! You heard it right. That's what I said.

Take a second or two to mull it over. Chew on the entire morsel for a bit. Taste the sour residue it leaves on the tongue.

As my words dissipated over the gaping mouths and popping eyes of those nearby, the salesperson looked at me as if I had just spit on her counter. In a way, I had done far worse.

I looked at the salesperson incredulously, "What?"

It snapped her out of it.

"Ma'am you need a chair?"

She yelled across the counter top to a salesperson on the floor. "Sylvia! Get this woman a chair! NOW!"

"Would you like a glass of water?" she asked the fading pregnant stranger spread across her counter.

To my credit, it had only been seconds since I uttered the sentence heard round the mall and I already knew I had done something really wrong; something severely punishable in most civilized circles. I reached over to put my arm around her and comfort her while Sylvia pushed a chair against her legs, being sure not to touch me in the process for fear of feeling Satan's reach.

Pale and faint, she incoherently mumbled, "doh ... na ... ta ... meh ... yeh ... basser".

"What honey? Here sit down. That's better. What are you trying to tell me dear?"

"DON'T TOUCH ME YOU BASTARD!!!"

I recoiled back and looked at the salesperson in disbelief.

"And don't touch me either! In fact, I recommend that you just shut your big mouth up now before you kill this poor woman," she abruptly added, her eyes dilated in disbelief.

I decided it would be wise to heed her advice.

After receiving a rather robust and ribald tongue lashing all the way home in the car that continued up the stairs and into our second floor apartment, I was immediately sentenced to nine days of the silent treatment--real silent I might add, she was a professional. It deserved me right! Needless to say, I remained on best behavior for about twenty three months. By then her pain was pretty much over with, except for some residual humiliation I endured after public appearances I made during my confession tour; an idea I actually came up with as a way to channel the negative vibes into positive energy--or something like that.

The occasional public shame though was small potatoes compared to what could have transpired. The reality is if she had a gun on her person at the time, I'd be history. If the salesperson had a gun, I'd be history. If anyone had a gun within a square mile, I'd be history. But my life was spared so that I might live to talk about it with you today.

So there you have it. An amazing story huh?

That is what I think about every time my son's birthday arrives; a haunting memory of a moment's indulgence in self absorption so inappropriate and so vile, it makes me wonder if I can ever fully rejoin the human race.

In closing ...

I've been sorry about a boat load of things in my life but never more fully or sincerely as I was after that episode of unexplainable senselessness. It was all my own doing too. Couldn't blame it on a bad day at work. Couldn't blame it on the media. Couldn't blame it on the weather. Couldn't even blame it on my mom wooden spooning my sorry childhood ass. It's one hundred percent owned by me.

And I'm just as sorry today as I was twenty one years ago! The truth is my remorse is greater, almost universal. In fact, I want to apologize to all women of all living species who were pregnant, are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, thinking about becoming pregnant, or just learning to spell 'pregnant'. I am very sorry for the monumental insensitivity I exhibited that day at the expense of one of your sisters.

As for you men out there who plan to play a supportive role in the whole pregnancy thing some day.

Listen up!

Learn from my folly. Teach others so they may not walk in my steps. Let's end male stupidity together.

Celtic Knot Band

The revival of Celtic art has led to its huge popularity today. Although many Celtic symbols are not able to be interpreted exactly, the meanings that have been ascribed today are universally accepted. These symbols are not only worn for their symbolism, they are worn as a way to proudly advertize a link to ancient heritage or worn simply for their beauty.

The Celtic wedding band is said to have originated from the Irish Christian manuscripts left behind by the monks, the Book of Kells is one example. This book is beautifully illustrated with ancient Celtic symbols. Although many of the symbols were steeped in mysticism and non Christian practice, none the less these monks saw in them enough beauty to preserve and ascribe their own meanings to. In particular, the Celtic cross which is today a popular Christian symbol yet its origins lie far from that.

Knots are not differentiated between Irish, Scots or Welsh. They are one symbol that is able to cross over from ancient beliefs and carry with them messages that were acceptable to Christian believers.

So too was the Celtic wedding band. Originally worn by the ancients as a means to signify wealth, status and fidelity, today it is the universal symbol for marriage. Worn by both men and women what makes this wedding band stand out is the Celtic symbolism wrought into its design. The most prolific of these symbols being the knot. When it adorns an otherwise simple band, the Celtic knot ring signifies an endless cycle with no beginning and no end.

In terms of love between a man and a woman the characteristic strands interlocking and woven together bind together past, present and future. They stand as a reminder of eternal and endless love.

The Celtic Knot in synopsis
What sets a knot apart from other Celtic symbols is the design comprising no beginning and not ending. The meaning or symbolism attributed to knots differs according to their design. In their simple form knots are said to signify no end in time, eternity, infinity, omnipresence and so forth.

Celtic knots comprising three corners on the other hand signify the relationship that exits in a trinity relationship. For instance Father, Son and Holy Spirit or Mother, Crone and Maiden. The three cornered Celtic knot is purported to be simplest design when comprised of three curves that connect at each corner. However they can be significantly more intricate and contain interwoven knots or other symbols. Yet at the heart of the three cornered knot lies its symbolic meaning. In Christian terms it speaks of the trinity that exists between Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In pagan terms it speaks of the journey of a woman such as Mother, Crone and Maiden.

The four cornered Celtic knot is called a quaternary knot and contains a very complicated and highly intricate pattern. Meanings attributed to this design range from good luck. Christian meaning is said to point to the four books of the Gospel while pagan symbolism points to the four seasons, four elements for four directions.

Whatever the design, at the heart of a Celtic knot lies the symbolism of one continuous line depicting no start and no end. It is no wonder that Celtic knot jewelry is so popular.

Celtic Engagement Rings - Using the History and Symbolism of Ireland in Your Wedding

Celtic engagement rings have become increasingly trendy among couples today, especially since they can be customized to suit the individual wearing them. Celtic ring designs can be in the form of the Claddagh style or the spirals or trinity knots.

When choosing Celtic engagement rings many couples tend to choose the Celtic knot aka the Lovers knot. They like this design as it represents infinity, love and unity, the words that every marriage wants to define them.

There are not many recorded points of information regarding to the exact meaning of the Celtic rings, which could possibly be one of the reasons why people are drawn to its design.

Just because the Celtic engagement rings don't have much documented information on its meaning does not mean that it can't be meaningful to you. You can customize the rings to give it your own meaning or choose from a wide selection of rings.

Another design is the Claddagh set of rings. The Claddagh ring has a past of its own when it comes to the symbolic meaning of engagements. However, many people love it as it is seen as a beautiful jewelry creation.

Another thing that couples love to have in their rings design is the Celtic cross. No matter what denomination or religion that people associate themselves with, the common belief among all is that the love of God will guide their shared life.

These engagement rings will draw on old traditional designs to create the new designs of today. This translates into a seemingly endless list of possibilities.

Finally when choosing Celtic engagement rings for you and your spouse you will be given the opportunity to choose the design, metal and stone that you desire in order to make it your very own creation.

Celtic engagement rings are steeped in tradition and history. If you want to have a ring that has a lot of meaning and symbolism, you should really consider one of these rings. Not only are they unique, but they are beautiful as well. You can see some examples of these rings here: http://www.CelticJewelryRings.com.

Tips For You and Your Golden Retriever

Training Tips For You and Your Golden Retriever

Chewing

Golden Retrievers like many other dog breeds love to chew and seem to love to chew anything that crosses their path. It is important to train our Golden Retrievers to get their chewing habit under control. Now there are many stores that stock those chew toys and they are often preferred, but there is another way that you can help your Golden Retriever take care of this instinct and still ease the pain of teething.

With this method, you will take an old sock and fill it up with several ice cubes. After you have placed the cubes in the sock, put a knot in the sock and place the sock in a big plastic bag and place it in the freezer. When you see your dog trying to chew on your shoes or slippers or the nearest table, give him a sock. It is important that you give this to your dog when you have the time to spend in the same area with him. You do not want to give this to your dog and leave him unattended as he could chew the sock and swallow pieces of it. I like to keep a few of these in the freezer so that we never run out of the sock chew toys.

Digging

Have you been outside in your backyard after your dog had the run of the yard? Did you fall into a bunch of potholes? If you are like me, I throw my hands up and just shake my head. I know that Charlie has been digging again. Golden Retrievers love to dig and it is important to understand that this is part of their nature. If they are outside, they will dig holes in your yard. If they are inside, your dog may try to dig holes in your floor, tear up your carpet, and dig on the couch or on the bed. I have found a way to train my Golden Retriever Charlie to dig as he needs to but in such a way that I still have a yard and house left.

The best way to help your Golden Retriever fill this need is to create an area that they are free to dig in. Take an old sandbox or purchase a swimming pool. Fill this with soil or sand and put it in the backyard. Bury a couple of favorite toys in this area, and then take him to this area and encourage him to come to this area when he wants to dig.

Leash Training

If you were like me when I first got Charlie, I wanted to go walking with him. Like many people, he took me for a walk rather than me taking him for a walk. So, I decided it was time to make some changes. Since Charlie was just a puppy, I first put the leash and collar on him when he was in the house so that he walked around dragging the leash alongside him. I used a fairly long leash and then I picked up the other end and called him to me. Every time that he came to me, I made sure to really praise him. Now we did this several times a day for many weeks until he got used to coming to me. Then we went outdoors in the yard and worked on this outside. It took awhile, but we kept working on it until he would come longer distances. With much praise and when he came to me we got used to using the leash.

How to Fix Holes in Your Lawn

Fill the hole with topsoil and firm it down then reseed it as if it were a bald patch. In removing the plugs of soil from your lawn this process severs roots, rhizomes and stolons. The affects of this stimulate your grass to produce new shoots and roots that will fill in the holes and increase the density of your lawn. They help aerate the soil, loosen it up, and are more beneficial than a problem. The little mounds will eventually disappear and the holes will fill in.

Manure with a high content of bedding materials may rob more nitrogen from the soil than it provides. A knife-type of tine also can be used to shatter dry soils and create many cracks in the ground that also serve for aerification. Most lawns receive a real benefit from solid, hollow and shatter tine aerification. Lawns like Barry's, struggling to grow in heavily compacted soil, may fail to thrive or die out no matter how much water and fertilizer you give them.

Winter freezing and thawing cycles and earthworm activity can help loosen slightly compacted soils. If the lawn has a thatch layer in excess of 1/2 inch, then core cultivation can be used as a preventative approach to control excess thatch build up. THATCH REMOVAL In addition to the deeper roots, the plugs of soil that are deposited on top of the ground help decompose thatch - without the risk of turf damage that power dethatchers pose. If you are doing a light fall overseeding on a fescue lawn, the holes left by the aerator make a perfect place for the seeds to fall into and germinate. While spiking will put holes in the turf, it actually compacts the soil rather than removing the core.

Aeration helps to prevent soil compaction and enables oxygen and water to get to the roots of the grass. Soak the food into the soil by watering (see second image below). Feed any new plant with plant food in the spring and fall until it reaches maturity. Because the grass clippings will be pulled into the soil and decomposed by soil organisms, you will need much less fertilizer. It is a myth that grass clippings cause thatch.

Without lawn aeration, grass roots tend to knot into each other instead of growing vertically into the soil. Due to the root's diminished contact with the soil's nutrients, lawn grass becomes vulnerable to predators like worms and insects as well as weeds like dandelions or crabgrass. Some professionals prefer to use a blend of 60% compost and 40% coarse sand because it is heavier than pure compost, it will move more easily through the grass to the soil. If the soil is saturated with water or even too dry it may lead to poor results.

Get Custom Engravings For Your Wedding Bands

After all there is something about a wedding gown prettier than any other gown in the world, as said by Douglas William Jerrold, is so true. Not only the wedding gown but everything that is associated with the bride looks prettier and that which is associated with the groom looks genuine. The love for the bride when the groom says 'I DO' is clearly seen in his eyes. The happiness and contentment that is seen in the bride's eyes is boundless. This bond between these two loving people is made stronger by these glittering wedding rings that the couple exchanges.

Diamonds are a symbol of eternity. And these days diamond jewelry has become the most popular purchase especially online. The jewelry is extravagant in looks and they are offered at competitive prices when compared to the malls and in-house stores. The wedding rings were usually meant only for the women. It was never a custom earlier and the double-ring ceremony came into place very recently. And that is when we started seeing the wedding bands for men. These rings and bands were available in pure yellow gold or while gold with the year and the name engraved on them.

The traditional style is still followed in the wedding bands. They are engraved and sometimes embossed with a beautiful Celtic knot design. This knot depicts the bond between the man and the woman. This also means that the couple would share oneness at all times and promise to have a continuity in their relationship come what may. With so much of variety in the rings available, the hot favorite is still the diamond rings. Couples these days shop for diamond wedding bands in pairs so that both of them have similar bands. Diamonds are the most eternal stones and hence they are always preferred.

In most cultures we find women wearing two rings on the same finger, one being the engagement ring and the other being the wedding ring. And in some cultures you would also find women wearing the eternal rings. These eternal rings are meant for couples who are married for long years and they want to mark that really special occasion. Whatever the occasion might be you can make it more exceptional and extraordinary with these wedding rings and diamond wedding bands. You will still find the traditional golden bands which were the most popular patterns in the yesteryear.

While many brides wear the wedding ring alone, there are women who prefer wearing the wedding ring first and then the engagement ring. The obvious reason being that the wedding ring will be closest to the heart. The ones that wear the engagement ring below the wedding ring believe that their perfect engagement had lead to their wedding. All beliefs, faiths, customs, cultures and feelings are absorbed in these wedding rings and wedding bands. They are made to suit only one grand occasion that is the grand wedding irrespective of the cultures and customs.

You can also order for custom made wedding bands which are engraved or embossed with the name of your partner, the date and the year of the wedlock. There are certain cultures which use the same engagement ring for wedding as well. However, that is very traditional. Because this is one of those very special occasions, brides want everything new on this very special day. And hence they shop for new wedding rings. The groom ties the nuptial knot with the help of this jeweled diamond wedding ring. The couple is then interlocked forever.

Grooms usually think there is not much variety for them. But these online stores have a great variety for men as well. These wedding bands are also embedded with diamonds which is the most popular choice. Men can choose the white gold rings or the yellow gold rings. The latest fashion being the mix of both white and yellow gold with a few diamonds beautifully embedded here and there. The exchange of these diamond wedding bands not only adds value to the occasion but also enhances the mutual love of the couple. The couple is wed locked and is declared a husband and a wife forever with these special wedding rings.
